Import Frame Instances
It is possible to use external data from text files for testing purposes or checking data quality, for example. Formats such as .csv and .xml are currently supported.
There is virtually no limit to the number of instances that can be imported into frames. You can set the default page limit in preferences.
To import frame instances, perform the following actions:
- In the main menu, select Frame > Import Instances From File.
- In the File text box, either enter the file path, or use Browse... to find the file to be used to import the instances.
- In File type choose, CSV or XML. Note that with CSV files you can select headers, qualifiers, and the type of separator (i.e. comma, semicolon, etc.).
- In Settings, choose from the drop down list, the Frame where the instances will be imported to.
- Select Overwrite existing instances to clear all the values currently in the instance table of the selected frame.
- Click Import when finished.
- After selecting Import, a mapping table will be shown. The external variable values need to be mapped to the Match frame variables. Map all necessary variables and click Finish to complete the import.
You will now be able to work with the imported values. Remember that all values imported still need to meet all domain specifications and constraints.
